It’s hard for a 6-year old… - October 21, 2009 -
to hear “Ready, Set… GO!” and stand there in the midst of 40,000 women and not move. But that’s how Race For the Cure goes with so many women to get started. We had a great time though!
It took us about 2 hours to go through the course with a stop in for the belly dancer show. It was drawing a crowd (of course) and there were women participating that have a lot more confidence than I do. A young lady jumped out and participated with the support of many of us watching on. She was really working it and having fun… Another lady behind me said “Not for a million dollars!” Followed by “my belly dances every time I walk… does that count?” We all had a good laugh with her!
So onto Biggest Loser~ I watched last night as the black team was sent home to face the challenges of real life. Normally the contestants don’t get a taste of reality so soon but I was really proud of Danny. I think he has really gotten it (I do wish he would quit crying though). However, I couldn’t help but think Dina and Shea are in for a rough future if they think they are going to go home and change the men in their lives. They were both very vocal and disapproving of the meals that their mates were eating. But ladies, your 6 weeks on the ranch don’t give you any right to criticize them or force them to change. You can focus on yourself and try to be an inspiring influence but if they don’t want to change, they don’t have to and aren’t going to.
On my journey, I controlled my environment and meals that I prepared very strictly. I did have a spouse that supported me in not bringing tempting foods in the house. But when we went out to eat, I remember splitting my plate in half and giving it to him when it was ordered. Not necessarily healthy for him but I wasn’t judging what he was doing and I didn’t want more on my plate than what I needed to eat. It was my version of getting the to-go box when the food is delivered. Of course, he did finally change his eating habits as well and we both were knockouts at a recent school reunion of his so it was a proud moment. So ladies, you gotta focus on you. Being upset because someone else is eating what you really want to be is like an alcoholic being upset that everyone else is getting to drink. It’s not fair but it’s reality.
That’s my soap box and I’m stepping down now… ![]()

I enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work.
